Call for Volunteers - Together Sailing Ambassador


Together and a network of 23 European organizations is organizing a European youth information campaign “Be In”. This European-wide campaign promotes European citizenship and youth participation and aims to reach 40 000 young people during 2011 and 2012.

One of the symbols of this Campaign is the Be In sailing boat that is going to be used in several activities of the Campaign with young Europeans on board, travelling from harbour to harbour and also competing in sailing races - regattas.

This boat will promote the project and the campaign giving visibility to all the organizations involved. Boats are dreams for many young people. Our boat will symbolize the campaign that aims to encourage young people to shape Europe of their dreams.


Profile of the volunteer


Are you passionate about sailing? Do you enjoy working with young people? Do you want to gain new experience and develop your skills by volunteering in a well established youth organisation? Now you have the opportunity to combine your hobby with volunteering experience and use a sailing boat for interesting international youth projects.

We are looking for a creative experienced individual who would be confident in sailing and in managing and organising activities with a small group of people concentrated around a sailing boat.

The Be In sailing boat has some activities previewed during the Be In campaign. But there is also space for the Together Sailing Ambassador to come up with his/her own ideas and realise own projects. Together and its partners are ready to look for solutions for international youth projects centered around the boat. The Sailing Ambassador will also publish regular contributions and articles about the boat activities at the website of Together and the Be In campaign.



· availability for 12 months

· age of 18-30 years

· previous experience in sailing and ability to navigate the boat (Jod 35) autonomously

· communication skills in English (French is an advantage)

· a reference/recommendation from a sailing club

· previous experience with organising activities or with youth work is an advantage

· personal traits: confident communicator, open-minded, friendly approach, volunteering spirit, willingness to learn, team spirit

You can also outline whether you have any ideas how the sailing boat could be used in activities of Together Network.
