Kick-off meeting

From 10 till 18 of Jaunary youth leaders from European and African countries participating in the project had an unique opportuinity to meet and discuss together, reflect and create plans for crucial aspects like local pilot projects, local impact, visibility or dissemination of results.

International Youth Cooperation for Sustainability is a large-scale project which will bring together 60 young people from 6 countries of Europe and Africa. The project aims to raise awareness among young people about sustainable development and respect to our environment as pressing global challenges as well as to promote Euro-African dialogue, exchange and co-operation in the field of youth.

As a first international activity of the work programme, this event was really important.

Youth leaders from Estonia, France, Italy, Senegal, Benin and Burkina Faso start officialy all project. It was not only an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and share experience. Meeting was meant as a seminar with variety of workshops about sustainable development, the main concepts and its specificities in Africa and Europe. What is more, participanst were introduced to the concept of permaculture which will be used as a good practises especially during the following international training course.

Because kick-off was a publicly start, there was special focus on visibility and local impact - meetings with local authorities and politicians held as well as press conference. We all believe that this meeting was a great start of a long -term partnership between the European and African organizations which will last through all future activities.
